All guests who present themselves are to be welcomed as Christ, for he himself will say: I was a stranger and you welcomed me (Matt 25:35). The Rule of Saint Benedict.

Are you feeling like you need a time apart from the hustle and bustle of a busy secular life? The Monks look forward to the opening of their Guesthouse in 2023 to offer the space for men and women to come and spend some time apart in prayer and spiritual relaxation.

Come visit for a night, several days, or up to 5 days and join the community in meals and prayer. Because we do not have a separate guesthouse at this time, we shall use a rotational cycle for retreats, a week for men, a week for women, etc. Please phone us on (202) 250-3743 and ask us when the next retreat is available.

Daily Mass will be offered and a priest is available for confession and spiritual direction as requested. While the Benedictines pray 6 times a day, retreatants are welcome to join when they feel like it.

The suggested donation for a overnight retreat is $65 per day, including 3 meals and 2 tea-times.

The Priory can also host directed day retreats for 25-30 persons. Please contact the Guestmaster if you or your Church group would like to have a retreat day or even a half day. One of the Benedictines would be happy to direct the retreat if you need a retreat director.

Day retreats are $18 per person and include tea and lunch and can start at anytime from 8am and ending up to 4pm.

The Church of Saint Thomas is open to the public Tuesday-Friday from 430am-830pm and Saturday and Sunday from 6am-6pm. One does not need to be on retreat to come and pray at the Church. Please refer to our Horarium for regularly scheduled services.
