Opus Dei, or God‘s Work, is the main apostolate of the Benedictines of Stilfontein and takes place 7 times daily in the Church of Our Lady of Good Hope in the form of communal prayer, adapted to our Missionary Charism.

The Benedictines of Stilfontein celebrate the ancient offices of Matins, Lauds, Prime, Mid-Day Prayer, Vespers, and Compline, in addition to the Holy Eucharist.

If you would like to join us in prayer, you are welcome at the times listed below for Matins, Lauds, Prime, Mid-Day Prayer, Eucharist, Vespers, and Compline. All the Offices are Prayed in the Oratory of Saint Mary, except for the Noon Offices, which are held in the Chapel of Saint Benedict. The Church of Our Lady of Good Hope is currently not open to the public.

Monday

Monday is a Desert Day for our monastic community. As such, public services are limited, as the monks pray in private. However, the public and retreatants are welcome to join us for:

12:00 Angelus, Mid-Day Prayer, and Holy Mass

6 pm Vespers & Angelus

7:45 pm Compline

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

05:00 am Matins, followed by Lauds & Angelus

07:30 am Prime & Chapter

12:00 Angelus, Mid-Day Prayer, & Holy Mass

6 pm Angelus & Vespers

7:45 pm Compline

Saturday

07:00 am Angelus, Lauds, & Mass Combined.

All Retreatants should depart after Breakfast. The Retreat House is closed from after Breakfast Saturday-2pm on Monday.

The Rest of the Services for Saturday are currently done in Private

Sunday & Solemnities

Please note that due to External Pastoral Obligations, there is currently no Sunday Mass and the Offices are said in Private. If you are a man who feels called to join our life and share in our ministry, you are most welcome!
