Due to the prohibition on gatherings (and religious services), we were unable to host our July feeding program. However, we were able to reschedule it for the next public holiday, which was on 9th August.
Despite arriving at our Church to discover it had been burgled, we carried on with the feeding program, as we know it is of great import to many of the children, especially on non-school days when some of have no access to a meal at home.
We would like to thank the men and ladies of the parish for setting up and cooking and a special thank you to the 1st Vaal Reefs Scout Troop for coming to work with the Our Lady of Good Hope Troop-in-Formation.
We were expecting the Scouts to be there for their customary 2 hours, but they had much energy on this public holiday and we did not return to the Priory until after 530 p.m. We are sure that the children were exhausted, as we know we were!
The children were very happy to learn to cook on an open fire, and made kebabs and banana bread!
We give thanks to our sponsor of the month, RB for their donation to cover the cost of food for our feeding program for the month. If you are interested in making a donation for September, please contact Fr. Prior on prior@stilfonteinpriory.org.za
