It’s a school holiday week in South Africa. Fr. Prior wanted to host a traditional “Vacation Bible School,” but due to his illness and ongoing recovery this was not possible. However, much gratitude goes out to the young men of the parish and some women who joined in to prepare lunch for some of the local orphans and children. We fed over 70 children today; it was a joy for all involved. We also thank our benefactors who provide financial support to be able to provide this feeding programme. The children enjoyed playing soccer in the street, trying to avoid the raw sewage that was running in a strong stream, card and board games and enjoying a morning and afternoon, not wondering where their lunch would come from for that day. We hope in time to be able to expand our feeding programme as our church congregation grows and we have more people to support our outreach ministries.
