Benedictine Monks

Continuing an ancient Christian tradition
in a modern anti-Christian world.

Founded in South Africa, but now situated in Virginia’s Historic Northern Neck, Our Lady of Good Hope, is home to a small but growing community of men who desire to live, work, and pray together, following the Rule of Saint Benedict and a more than 1500 year old monastic tradition.

The Benedictines of Stilfontein Priory, provide pastoral support to Saint Luke’s Church as well as Our Lady of Good Hope Church, and serve as teachers at Woodland Classical Anglican School. The Fathers and Brothers also serve as chaplains to various nursing homes, hospitals, universities, and prisons in the area.

The Monastery also maintains an Annex House in South Africa which serves as a place of retreat and respite for the monks returning to visit family as well as serving as a base for mission trips from the United States.

As is traditional with monastic centres, education is also an important mission of Our Lady of Good Hope Priory and the Benedictines plan to serve serve as instructors for students enrolled in Saint Luke’s Seminary and House of Formation, also located on the grounds once those operations are also relocated from South Africa.
